The terrible sacrifice of the boxer: in order to develop skill one must risk the firmity of their mind, their face, their sight. Tonight I sparred for the first time and I don't know how I feel about it.

forget about your feelings. ignore the pain and let your ego do the rest. kick some face in while you're at it.

oh. and by the way. thanks for the call. in seattle now. but, back next week. call you then.
love ya tough guy.

i feel like that is one of the reasons i stopped my kickboxing class - i loved the practice, the moves, but i hated the idea of sparring, the risk. although i suppose had i been more comfortable with my own abilities i would have felt myself up to the challenge of preserving my faculties.

by the way, i was terribly upset to have missed your polar bear swim. i have always wanted to do that!

So how was getting hit in the head? If it happens a few hundred more times, you'll get used to it.
